After going through many tests and examinations
it was very hard to be told that I have MND, but
what was MND??
Did I have to have an operation or take other
types of medicine? When it was explained
in very simple terms, and that there is no cure
and the average life expectancy is 2 to 3 years,
but each case is different - it hits home.
Being told there is no cure for you and your life
expectancy could be whatever !, you feel totally
alien to everyone else.

But
after many months of fighting my demons and thoughts,
I have adjusted myself to except what will be
will be, don't feel sorry for yourself and get
on with living with the quality time you have
left. So I picked myself up and joined the Clwyd
branch which is now like a second home to me.
Many people have asked me what is MND, so I then
decided I would make my priority of making people
aware of what MND was.

My first charity event started at xmas 2009 when
I asked my friends - who are in two bands would
they support me, before I knew it I had that many
people wanting to help it was overwhelming. Two
free bands ' Phoenix and Stolen Volume and a support
disco, my local club the 'Broughton wings' which
is part of the Airbus group gave me the hall, bar
staff, tickets, adverts etc etc all free. My job
was to sell the tickets, I did not need to worry
- the 200 tickets went in two weeks, I could have
sold twice the amount. |

My
next challenge was to get raffle prizes - again
people can be so generous we had bottle of spirits,
hair salon vouchers, toys, restaurant meals, Spa
therapy treatments and more.
The night was a huge success , every one enjoyed
the bands - music for all tastes and well supported
with a good disco and a few drinks. So a total of
£2051.71p was raised for the Clwyd Branch of MNDA.

Wrexham Neurological Alliance meets in the Guildhall
every month.
This has gone from strength to strength in the last
year. About 20 people on average attend the monthly
meetings in the Guildhall. These are mainly representatives
of the Neurological Charities in Wrexham but also include
individuals with neurological conditions and their carers.
A network of contacts with other Alliances has been
established across North Wales with the help of the
Wales Neurological Alliance, Wrexham County Borough
Council and AVOW. We meet at approximately 2 monthly
intervals to exchange ideas and information. It's early
days yet but hopefully this will become a useful tool
to influence various organisations.
